The concert features music by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, including the Hamlet-inspired "These Words…", a new version of "Fratres" for viola, string orchestra and percussions, and the Danish premier of the choir- and orchestra piece "Da Pacem Domine".

Performances by   Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen
                              Students of Helsingør Music School
                              Helsingør Girls' Choir
                              Helsingør Boys' Choir
Youth Orchestra of Malmö Symphony Orchestra
                              and many others.

The two concerts are the result of the long-term cooperation between Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen and Helsingør Commune. In November the parties will be presenting two linked projects, both of which present ways of introducing music and arts to children and adolescents. The various activities are centred on the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt and result in the concerts at Kronborg Castle in Helsingør and Dunkers Kulturhus in Helsingborg.

In October and November musicians from Athelas work with 4th and 5th graders from Helsingør Commune schools. In these sessions pupils are introduced to specific elements of Pärt‘s music, preparing them for the concert. Simultaneously the children work with the subject in figurative arts, depicting the musical elements visually. These artworks will be on display at Kronborg Castle during the concert. In November it is also possible to become acquainted with Arvo Pärt through a photography exhibition at the Helsingør Central Library.

Many of Helsingør‘s central bodies are involved in the project – Helsingør Dome Choir, Skt. Mariæs‘ Girls‘ Choir, Helsingør Music School‘s Symphony Orchestra SYMPH and students from the Music School. This project presents the new Malmö Symphony Orchestra‘s Youth Orchestra MSOUng. All of them will be performing the music of Arvo Pärt, winner of the 2008 Léonie Sonning prize.

Tickets to the concert at Kronborg Castle on November 15 can be bought on www.billetlugen.dk and in FONA stores across Denmark.

There is no entrance fee to the concert at Dunkers Kulturhus on November 16.
